About Today Font

The whole family started with a single word — the designer Ben McGehee of UnAuthorized Type wrote "Today" in a particular hand, liked what he saw, and built the rest of the alphabet from there. Some letters took to the style naturally; others needed coaxing, and you can feel that honest negotiation in the finished result. The outcome is a single Regular weight with a slightly bold presence and a handwritten rhythm that feels genuinely drawn rather than mechanically constructed.

Design Aesthetics & Character Characteristics

It sits in handwritten territory with a modern, playful character — whimsical without being sloppy, and weighted just enough to hold its own at display sizes. The single Regular cut ships as a TTF and covers Latin script partially, supplemented by a set of UA Type dingbats that fill otherwise empty slots so no awkward placeholder boxes appear mid-text. The overall color on the page is warm and informal, with the kind of slight irregularity that makes a design feel touched by a hand.

Recommended Usage & Font Pairing

The weight and personality make it well-suited to branding work, greeting cards, poster headlines, children's book covers, and social media graphics where a casual human touch earns attention. For contrast in a layout, the family pairs well with Canela, Etna, ABC Arizona, Bahnschrift, or Adobe Caslon Pro — each offering a different degree of formality to balance against its looseness.
