About Jersey Font

There is something immediately physical about this family — the letterforms carry the weight and confidence of athletic lettering, the kind of type you associate with varsity graphics and stadium signage, but resolved with a modern clarity that keeps it from feeling nostalgic. It was designed by Sarah Cadigan-fried as part of The Soft Type Project. The defining structural idea is optical sizing built directly into the naming convention: the family ships in four size grades — 10, 15, 20, and 25 — each available in a standard cut and a Charted variant, giving you eight styles in total across TTF files.

Design Aesthetics & Character Characteristics

This is a display family, and it commits to that category fully — bold, modern, and carrying just enough playfulness to avoid feeling corporate. The Charted variants introduce a grid-like texture that reads beautifully at large sizes, making each grade feel purposeful rather than redundant. Moving from the 10 through the 25, the forms shift in stroke weight and spacing to stay optically consistent at their intended size, which is a discipline you notice the moment you stop swapping grades at random and start using them as intended.

Recommended Usage & Font Pairing

The family earns its keep in headline work, poster layouts, logo lockups, branding systems, and T-shirt graphics — anywhere the type needs to hold presence at a distance or dominate a composition. Latin coverage handles standard Western European copy cleanly. For pairing, the neutral confidence of Helvetica or Bahnschrift steadies it in editorial contexts, while Canela brings an elegant contrast in editorial or brand work; Etna and AQUA offer more expressive pairings when the surrounding design calls for personality throughout.
